Booking
How do I book an appointment?
Call the salon on 0121 350 8367 during opening hours, email hello@chairsalon.co.uk, or send the form on our contact page.
Can I request a particular stylist?
Yes, and we would encourage it. Lee, Ryan, Sam and Kelly each have their own specialisms. If you are not sure who fits, describe what you want and we will match you.
Do you take walk-ins?
We work by appointment so that nobody is left waiting. If we have a gap we will always try to fit you in, so it is worth ringing.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please give us at least 48 hours notice so we can offer the slot to someone else. Repeated late cancellations may mean we ask for a deposit on future bookings. Every professional here is self-employed, so please also check any additional booking and cancellation terms given to you by the professional you book with.
Do you have parking?
There is on-street parking on Sutton Road outside the salon. Wylde Green rail station is a short walk away.
Colour
Do I need a patch test?
Yes, for any colour service if you are new to us or have not had colour with us in the last six months. It must be done at least 48 hours before your appointment. Please arrange it directly with your chosen professional.
How long does a colour appointment take?
A root retouch is around 90 minutes. Half head foils are two to two and a half hours. Full head foils and balayage are three to four hours. Colour correction can take a full day or more than one visit.
Can you get me blonde in one visit?
Sometimes. It depends on your natural level, what colour is already on the hair and its condition. We will tell you honestly at consultation. Getting there safely over two visits beats wrecking your hair in one.
I have used box dye. Can you fix it?
Usually, but it takes planning. Box dye deposits more pigment than salon colour and lifts unevenly. Your chosen colourist will assess your hair and explain how many appointments may be needed.
Who does the colour?
Ryan is a certified L’Oréal Colour Specialist with over twenty years in the industry. Sam has thirty-four years and specialises in transformations. Lee reached the L’Oréal Colour Trophy grand final.
Nails & beauty
Who does the beauty treatments?
Kelly, our beauty therapist. She holds Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications and is trained in Backscratchers fibreglass and acrylics, Star Nails art, Minx and LVL Lash Lift.
Do beauty treatments need a patch test?
Brow tint, lash tint, lash lift and brow lamination all do, at least 48 hours beforehand.
Can I have nails and hair in the same visit?
Yes, and it is the sensible way to do it. Colour takes hours to process, so we can run a manicure or a brow appointment alongside. Mention it when you book.

Prices
How much is a cut or colour?
Hair prices depend on length, thickness and how long the service takes, so they are confirmed at your consultation with your chosen professional. Call the salon on 0121 350 8367 and we will give you a figure.
Do you offer a consultation?
Yes. Arrange a consultation with your chosen professional and you leave with a plan, a price and a realistic time estimate.
What payment do you take?
Card and cash. Please ask at the desk if you have a particular preference.
Renting a space
Do you rent chairs?
Yes. We rent styling chairs and a nail table to experienced, self-employed professionals. See rent a space.
What do I need to rent a chair?
Public liability insurance, registration as self-employed, your own tools and product, and a high standard of work.
Do you take a percentage of my takings?
No. You pay rent and keep everything you earn, including retail.
Call the salon and ask. We would rather answer a question now than have you book the wrong thing.
